Crochet lovers, do you have multiple pions concerning the single crochet stitch, what about afghan stitch?

I usually don't have a lot of time to crochet so I opt for the afghan stitch or granny squares since they seem to go pretty fast. I like the afghan stitch so I can cross stitch and personalize it. I once did an afghan for a Miami Dolphins fan and cross stitched the logo in the center.
