How can I get a higher chair in my orchestra?
I just had my audition last week and the conductor came up for chair arrangements. I hit every single note perfectly, practiced for hours on the audition peice, and he puts me in the 16th chair in the first violin in the high school orchestra. ALOT of other people did way worse than me and got into higher chairs. For some reason he puts the girls on the outside of the rows, and neglects much better guy violin players. I know if I ask him the question how to get a higher chair, he will only say "just practice". Even the girl in second chair in the first violins MISSED three notes and somehow managed to stay in the same spot. What are some things that I could do so he can get my attention? Everyone else also told me that I should have been placed at least third or fourth chair.
